Course Details: • Name: V5 Competition Team • Date: June 28, 2025 – August 31, 2025 • Location: Burlington Classroom • Grades: G7+ • Prerequisite: R702 The Robotics Competition Program is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed to excel in VEX Robotics Competitions. Through hands-on activities, students will delve into various aspects of competitive robotics, including game analysis, brainstorming, robot design, building, and teamwork. This program serves as a comprehensive foundation for students aiming to participate in VEX Robotics events. Key Topics Covered Game Analysis: Understand the rules, objectives, and challenges of the specific VEX Robotics game for the season. Analyze game elements, scoring opportunities, and strategic considerations. Identify winning strategies and potential pitfalls. Brainstorming: Foster creativity by brainstorming innovative robot designs and mechanisms. Collaborate with peers to generate ideas and explore different approaches. Evaluate feasibility, efficiency, and effectiveness of proposed solutions. Robot Design & Build: Learn principles of mechanical design, structural integrity, and weight distribution. Construct and iterate on robot prototypes using the VEX V5 system. Incorporate sensors, motors, and other components to optimize performance. Teamwork: Develop effective communication skills within a team environment. Practice collaboration, delegation, and task management. Understand the importance of teamwork in achieving success during competitions. Prerequisite Successful completion of Robotics Advanced is a prerequisite for enrolling in this program. Students should have a solid understanding of robotics concepts, programming, and hands-on experience with VEX V5 hardware.
