R901 - FTC Basics Dates: 9/15/24 - 1/12/25 Time: Sunday, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM Location: Burlington Classroom # Grades: G7+, G9+ Prerequisite: R702 Related Class: R702, R911 Course Description: FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is an exciting robotics program where students learn to think like engineers. Design and Build: Teams design, build, and program robots to compete in head-to-head challenges in an alliance format. Reusable Platform: Robots are constructed using metal and plastic materials and powered by Android technology. Students can code them using various levels of Java-based programming. Inclusive Environment: FTC welcomes all skill levels—technical or non-technical. Students contribute diverse skills like coding, electronics, graphic design, and more. FTC encourages teamwork, problem-solving, and hands-on learning in a supportive community. 🤖🌟 Workshop Goals: • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the FIRST Tech Challenge and its impact on developing future engineers. • To foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. • To offer a supportive and inclusive environment where all skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical. • By the end of the workshop, students will have a functional robot ready to compete and a deeper appreciation for the intersection of technology and creativity.
