R911 - FTC Workshop Dates: 9/9/2024 - 1/6/2025 Time: Monday, 4 PM - 7 PM & Sunday, 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM Location: Burlington Classroom # Grades: G7+, G9+ Prerequisite: R702 Related Class: Course Description: Dive into the world of robotics with our FTC Competition Workshop, designed for students eager to learn about engineering, teamwork, and innovation. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to the FIRST Tech Challenge, a global robotics program that ignites the minds of young engineers. Who Should Attend • Students interested in STEM fields, robotics, coding, or anyone looking to challenge themselves in a collaborative and competitive environment. Participants will • Design, build, and code robots to compete in an alliance format against other teams. • Work with a reusable platform, powered by Android technology, and code using Java-based programming. • Engage in advanced engineering concepts, brainstorm innovative ideas, and develop career-ready practices. • Collaborate in teams to solve real-world problems through the design and deployment of robots. • Experience the thrill of competition in a class mini-game, presenting their robots and what they’ve learned. Workshop Goals: • To provide a comprehensive understanding of the FIRST Tech Challenge and its impact on developing future engineers. • To foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. • To offer a supportive and inclusive environment where all skill levels are welcomed and needed, technical or non-technical. • By the end of the workshop, students will have a functional robot ready to compete and a deeper appreciation for the intersection of technology and creativity.
