R201 - Robotics for Young - Hero is On Mission - Village Engineering Dates: 2/5/24 - 6/4/25 Time: Wednesday, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Location: Needham Classroom Grades: G2+ Prerequisite: R201 Related Class: R201. C200, A200 Course Description: There are a variety of plans, collaboration, and technologies needed to provide all the needs of a village including shelter, water, food, and power, as a village is being developed. The tasks that the Hero Robot will do in the Village Engineering Construction Competition are inspired by many of the real world efforts that take place as neighborhoods, villages, and cities are developed, like constructing houses, building water towers, and developing infrastructure. Col. Jo's efforts to construct a model sustainable village with Hero the Robot, as part of the Village Engineering Construction team, contextualizing competition tasks for students through Col. Jo's experiences in a fun and engaging story. Follow Col. Jo through various tasks throughout the Village Engineering Construction project. Read the story to students, print a copy for your classroom library, and return to the story throughout your competition cycle. You may want to have students create their own Construction Logs to track their progress through competition tasks alongside Col. Jo! Throughout the course, students will explore: • More about Robotics and Mechanical knowledge • AI design and brainstorm • 3D Modeling and 3D printing • Kinematics, dynamics, and control strategies. • Robot sensors and automation
