Program Description

R102/C102 - Robotics for Little - MarsRover Surface Operations Dates: 2/6/25 - 6/5/25, 16 lessons Time: Thursday 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM Location: Burlington Classroom #2 Grades: GK+ Prerequisite: R101/C101 Related Classes: R101/C101 Course Description: The "Mars Rover Surface Operations" program is an interactive, 16-class journey where kindergarten and 1st-grade students explore space exploration, robotics, coding, AI, and engineering through the lens of a Mars Rover mission. Using engaging tools like VEX 123 robots, OLLO, 3D printing, and Scratch programming, students simulate the tasks of a real Mars Rover, from navigating the Martian terrain to collecting samples and using AI to make decisions. Throughout the program, students will build their own Mars landscape, design and print Rover tools, and code missions for their Rovers, while also learning about how AI helps robots ""see"" and avoid obstacles. By the end of the program, students will have combined hands-on creativity with foundational STEM skills, culminating in a final showcase of their Mars Rover projects. This program fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and critical thinking while nurturing an early love for science and technology in an exciting, space-themed context." By the end of this course, students will • Robotics knowledge • 3D Modeling and 3D Printing • Concept of sequence programming • STEAM knowledge
